SAN FRANCISCO - September 12, 2005 - The board of directors of ABM Industries Incorporated (NYSE:ABM) has promoted David L. Farwell to senior vice president. In addition to his current role as Treasurer of ABM, Farwell’s newly expanded responsibilities will include working with the executive management team on strategic initiatives, evaluating potential acquisitions and assisting divisional presidents to improve operational performance.

"Following many years of working for some of the leading global technology companies, David joined ABM three years ago as a member of management and has been a highly valued addition to our company since his arrival," said Henrik C. Slipsager, president and CEO of ABM Industries. “We are excited that David's expertise, knowledge and interpersonal skills will be an asset to ABM as we enhance our long term growth plans and improve our operational efficiencies,” he added.

Farwell joined ABM in August of 2002 as vice president and treasurer. Prior to joining ABM, Farwell most recently held the position of treasurer at JDS Uniphase Corporation. Farwell is a graduate of California State University, Hayward and holds an MBA from California State University, San Jose.
